It's a leafy, affluent bushland pocket prized for its large blocks and national-park surrounds.

Almost every home here is a separate house, over 98% of the suburb by the last count, mostly built from the late 1970s onward once the former quarry land was opened up for housing.

Waste and stormwater lines here often run at awkward falls rather than the straight, even grade a flat suburb would give you.

Mature roots from trees planted decades ago work their way into the joints of ageing drainage lines, especially where a run already sits at a compromised fall.

Put the two together, uneven ground plus heavy root pressure, and you get the pattern we see most on this bush-block terrain. A slow, gradual narrowing rather than a single dramatic blockage, right up until the day it finally gives out.
